From fitness and art classes to walking and book clubs, there’s something for everyone. See our sample ACTIVITY CALENDAR St Patty’s Day was celebrated with a traditional Irish meal that included a sampling of Guinness. Residents take part in an art project that is being led by local artists. Prior to Christmas 2023, the coral group from St. Mary’s Academy visited Misericordia Terrace to entertain residents. It was a great afternoon filled with Christmas Carols and visiting. Wolseley MLA Lisa Naylor was invited to join residents to discuss provincial topics including healthcare, safety, infrastructure and affordability. MP Leah Gazan joined residents for coffee and to discuss federal topics that are top of mind. Conversation included the new Federal Dental Care plan, the proposed universal drug plan and safety. Residents enjoyed the opportunity to ask questions and look forward to having her join them again in the future. Filipino Heritage students from Keewatin Prairie School performed traditional songs and dances for the residents. The boys performed the folk song “Bahay Kubo” and the girls performed a “Bulaklakan” cultural dance. Once again Chef Mike and team wow’d residents with a traditional menu of Bihon Pancit with Lumpia or Beef Morcon and Buko Pandan for dessert. Dancers from the Susan French School of Highland Dance returned to entertain residents as we celebrated Robbie Burns Night. An Address to the Haggis was done before residents enjoying a sample of Haggis of their own created by Chef Mike and team. Residents were treated to a very informative presentation by Ed Wiebe, Senior Laboratory Instructor with the School of Earth and Ocean Sciences at the University of Victoria, on climate change and the evidence that has been gathered to show its existence and the negative effects. Members of the Susan French School of Highland Dance performed for residents during our Scotland Cultural Evening. Along with Scottish music and dancing, Chef Mike and team created a special menu of traditional Scottish fare including Cock-a-Leekie soup, Mince & Tatties or Beer Battered Fish & Chips and Ecclefechan Butter Tarts. Residents were treated to Ukrainian Easter Egg decorating that was led by Chef Mike and Kitchen Staff Ana. Traditional bees wax, dies and pysanka’s were used. Elvis was in the building! Residents were treated to a wonderful tribute show by The Adam T. Elvis Show which included over an hours worth of entertainment of various hits from the King himself.
